About Us

Seven years ago my husband Len and I, then city slickers, decided with approaching retirement for a country life change.
Since I was a small (disabled) child I had loved horses. My husband Len was a successful working dog trainer and trialler. He had been researching Peruvian horses and their history for many years and was fascinated with their amazing gait, temperament, and brio. I promptly fell in love with these wonderful creatures also. Hence our quest for a small herd of these horses began.
We were lucky to meet Christiane Yeardley of Narrawin Stud and we commenced a program to obtain the best mares we could in Australia. We purchased Cortesana NS, Carisma NS, and Caliente NS, all of whom have strong bloodlines.
During this time, we went to Peru to get up close and personal with more of these horses, and went on a mini tour with a human dynamo called Mimi Busk Downey of Crescent Moon Ranch in Canada. We developed a strong relationship with Mimi who had been breeding these horses for about 30 years, and she also takes tours to Peru, exploring the horses, culture and history.
Mimi offered to look out for a good colt for us to import with impeccable blood lines to breed to our mares. After corresponding for six months Len and I had a reality check and realised we were novices at this “Stallion” business, we couldn’t possibly handle a green young stallion.
After much soul searching Mimi then made us a most generous offer of her Senior Stallion RTP Casino. And we are eternally grateful to her and Dale. This horse has done it All!!!! And so easy to handle, (our friend likened him to a child’s pony).
Casino arrived in May, and has settled in very well. He is presently serving all our mares and we are hopeful of the thumping of foal hooves about November 2009.
We have also purchased from Narrawin Stud two more brood mares, one being the best brood mare presently in Australia. So we definitely in for the long haul.
Casino was successfully introduced at Equitana this year and we are hoping to get a group of people (aficionados) together who are as enthusiastic about these treasures as we are, and will continue promoting these horses when we no longer can.
